...Since I last posted! It feels like we've started and then stopped our weight loss attempts a ton of times in the time that we've been dating. But I finally have a real, immediate, tangible goal to work my butt off for...
I'M ENGAGED!!!
Uly proposed 2 weeks ago in Yosemite and we're looking a July wedding which means I need to get my butt in gear FAST. Engagement photos are looming on the horizon and I gotta get hot for them!
I've finally come to terms with the fact that if I don't go to the gym first thing in the morning, I don't go. And if I don't set my alarm and MAKE myself get up and go, I get lazy. Thus I've been getting up and going to the gym BEFORE class in the mornings and getting up early on my days off and going then, as well. I'm aiming for the gym on Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri but so far I've only gotten there 2 out of 4 days. This week I've already made it Monday and Tuesday so we'll cross our fingers for Thursday and Friday!!
I'm already down 6 pounds which is awesome and super motivating. My ring was tight right at first but now it almost falls off my finger! I've been watching what I eat and making sure to drink tons of water which...Doesn't make me feel any different but I feel better knowing I'm hydrating my body.
I'll try and post more often and maybe at the 10lb mark I'll repost those horrific photos! :P

Oops...
Well...I haven't fallen off the wagon, so to speak. If any of ya'll follow my other blogs you know...I'm just super bad at posting!! My main reasons for waiting was because I wanted to get my measurements and post them on here with my twice a month weighing, but I never did and finally I just decided to post on here. Maybe I'll post my measurements on the 15th. No promises though! :P
So March 1st came and I weighed myself with our sweet new scale that I bought...219, whoohoo!! I was really excited that I had lost a pound because even though I'd been watching what I ate, I hadn't exercised much so that was pretty awesome. My son, Oliver, dragged the scale out on Tuesday so I decided to weigh myself just for the heck of it and I had to weigh myself three times to make sure I was getting the right number........216!! Whoohoo again!! I'm even more determined to start working out more, which hasn't exactly started, but oh well. I'll get it figured out someday!
As for the recipes I promised. I'm pretty sure I took some pictures with my phone but I'm feeling lazy so I'm going to just post the links to the recipes and tell you what I did differently!
This was so good! I doubled the spice rub, combined it with the olive oil and lime juice and let it marinate. Super good, but for sure I'm going to quadruple the spices, throw in some fresh garlic (I can quadruple the amount of garlic in a recipe and still want more), up the cayenne a bit, and douse it in lime juice right before and after I cook the chicken and it should be perfect!
I kept this pretty much the same, except I swapped out chicken breasts instead of beef. I didn't marinate it nearly long enough, though, but the chicken was super good. The marinade didn't sit on the chicken long enough for any other flavors but the orange to come through, so next time I'll make sure to prep this with enough time to marinate the 4 hours they say to. Oh and operator error: I didn't notice the recipe called for GROUND garlic, so I used fresh and didn't use nearly enough so next time I'll stick to ground or tons of fresh.
These are addictive!!! I loved them! The only thing I did differently was throw some lime juice into the mix, but you couldn't taste it enough. I can't decide if I want to add more next time, or toss them in lime juice after roasting them or just 86 the lime juice altogether.
This is so super good, I don't even change a thing. Except quadrupling the garlic, of course. I used the leftover chicken from the above recipe in the soup, but the taco chicken that the recipe calls for (The recipe for that is linked in the recipe for the soup) is to die for as well!
Oh and I've been doing a ton of smoothies, too! I do about a cup of juice, a cup of greek yogurt, berries and 3 cups of spinach and they are so delish. I've also been eating a lot of greek yogurt with honey drizzled on it which is amazing. I saw an idea on Pinterest to mix dry Ranch into greek yogurt and dip veggies into it which is totally happening, when I can remember to buy Ranch mix. Haha!
Uly and I have been battling this cough that we got from Oliver for literally a month. Oliver had it for maybe 2 weeks and we have had it for a MONTH, which is so unfair. I've been able to power through some workouts with mine, and we're finally starting to get better, but if poor Uly exerts himself at all he turns into a coughing machine and that's not a good thing. As soon as he's back to normal I'm going to have some competition! ;)
I'll be posting for sure on the 15th for sure, and will try and post some other updates before then. If anyone wants to check out some healthy recipes I've made or any of my fun fitness inspirations, my fitness board is at here: http://pinterest.com/lolabella85/sweating-the-fat-away I'd link that, but for some reason I can't figure it out right now. Grr!
Any of you readers have any tips, tricks, recipes or inspiration to share?!

Update
Things have been going slowly but surely for me. I don't have anything fantastic to talk about, but I might as well post about what's going on. I've been working really hard to eat right and avoiding sugar/sweets/ fatty foods; basically anything that's been my downfall in the past. Uly and I went to Costco today and bought a huge bag of spinach, berries and restocked me up on Greek yogurt so tomorrow is the start of smoothies for breakfast, yum!!
I am biting the bullet and joining a gym. It doesn't have daycare, but is a 24 hour gym and Uly is always willing to watch Oliver for me if he's not busy himself and I can go after Oliver goes to sleep at night too, thus avoiding the whole "I-feel-guilty-for-leaving-my-baby-even-if-it's-for-a-worthy-goal-like-my-health-or-education" syndrome. It's a killer one, I tell ya. :P
Speaking of the gym, I went the other night with my friend Valerie and it was awesome. Our friend Vu showed up and we roped him into being our personal trainer for the night, and he took his job seriously. I'm battling a cough and every time I coughed or laughed for the next two days I was in pain, but it was so great to feel that pain!! I weighed myself at the gym and came in at 224, but it was at about 10 PM and I know that I flux about 5 lbs per day, so I'm pleased to know that I haven't really gained anything since Christmas. Also, after the workout and talking with Vu and Uly I've got a little bit more of a concise work out plan: At least 45 minutes of Cardio at least 5 times per week, and core work is all the weight training I want to do right now. I'll focus more on weight training once I hit my goal weight/body size.
Anyway, that's about all for now. Here's some random pictures, in no particular order, of the foods I've been eating over the last few days!

Greek yogurt and honey. My new favorite breakfast and snack! I stick with the plain since it's lower in calories and it gives me the option to sneak it in the place of sour cream or anything like that AND will allow me to control the sweetness (or lack thereof) of the smoothies.
This chicken was amazing!! I made it for dinner last night and it was gone. I think I'm going to make up a huge batch every Sunday to eat throughout the week. Maybe. I'll post the recipe and my adaptations in a different post!
Spicy Roasted Chickpeas from Our Best Bites. These are surprisingly good! I doubled the recipe, not realizing how many chickpeas are in one can, and so they didn't get super crispy in my little toaster oven, but oh well. I know better for next time, and there will be a next time! Again, I'll post the recipe in another post!
I'm working on having snacks between meals and making sure that they are healthy snacks! This was my snack/lunch the other day while doing homework - Almonds and green tea, yum!
Home made oatmeal. Sooooooo good and I love that it's super healthy!! I made this with milk and tossed raisins and a good amount of cinnamon in there, delish.
These are Oliver's fries from lunch on Sunday that I did NOT eat and I was quite proud of myself!
I've really happy with how well I've been able to keep up with eating healthfully and not giving in to my cravings/urges to eat all the crap I normally do, but wow is it ever on my mind a lot!! The few times I've allowed myself a bite of Oliver's cereal or something not so great for me (Never more than one bite, though!) I've noticed I savor it a lot more and really stop to taste it, so hopefully this will help me stop inhaling chocolate and sugar and learn to eat it in moderation and appreciate it, too!
On the 1st I'm going to do another weigh-in and take my measurements then, and do it on the first of every month. So stay tuned!

Embarrassing, but necessary...
I started this blog to keep myself honest while I'm trying to lose weight and as soon as I had the idea, I knew I had to do this. Not only do I want to be able to see the difference in a few months, but I want people to call me out on what I really look like. I'll admit, seeing the pictures was not fun. I look a lot worse than I feel.

I'm concentrating on not sucking in my stomach :/
This one might be the worst for me. I didn't even know I HAD back fat. :/ And my posture is just horrible. When I start doing weight training I'm going to try and do some back stuff to hopefully help with that.
Since my boyfriend is just absolutely amazing, he let me talk him into taking some pictures, too. His aren't nearly as bad as mine!!
We both have a lot of work to do!

The start!
Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by this potentially embarrassing blog!
For those who don't know us...
Currently typing is Ashlee, 1/2 of this dynamic duo. I'm 26 going on 27 in July (uggggghhhhh). I'm currently a full time student, and looking for a job. I'm 5'11" and I think the last time I weighed myself I was 220. I'm not too sure where I'm at right now, but I don't care too much about the numbers, I just know that I am unhappy with my body and I am sick of it.
Uly, the other 1/2 of this duo, is 28 going on 29 this May and is a full time student as well. He is thisclose to graduating with his Bachelor's this year, whoohoo!! He is 6'3"(?? I can never remember!!!) and since I'm typing this without him here, I'm not sure how much he weighs. He is a huge sports fan and is frustrated that he can no longer tear it up on the court like he used to and wants to get back to that.
The simplest part of our goals is this - I want to get to 160, Uly would like to get to 250...I think. We'll go into more depth on our next post, and I know that I'll be posting my measurements along with my pictures.
This blog is to make our goals and progress public and to help hold us accountable. I'm not excited about posting pictures of myself the way I am now, but that's exactly why we're doing this...I want to be excited about posting pictures of myself and happy with my body!
That's it for now, the next post will be Uly and I, and we'll work out a schedule of when we're going to post and all that junk. Thanks for reading and here's hoping you stick around to shame us into sticking to this journey!
